Those who have little or no hearing have unique needs. In cooperation with the Youngstown
Hearing and Speech Center, the Speech, Hearing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashtabula provides:
![]() Adult Sign Language Classes American Sign Language Classes are offered to anyone who would like to learn the language of the Deaf. This includes the manual alphabet, sign vocabulary, the grammatical structure of ASL, and information about Deaf culture. Classes are eight weeks in length (total 16 hours). Sign Language for Use with Non Verbal Children is designed for families and professionals who work with young children who are non-verbal. This may include children who have autism, developmental delays or a speech/language disorder who may or may not have hearing loss. Class is eight weeks in length (total 12 hours). Sign language classes are offered one to two times per year and are open to adults age 16 and up.
